Today is the 3rd day of my last MFA residency at New England College. It has been exciting and nerve racking since I arrived. Yesterday I presented my “lecture” on Merwin’s “The Night of the Shirts”, and tonight I will find out if I passed.
The experience this past semester, of having to complete a manuscript, was wonderful and time consuming. It is amazing to look back on the work you have done, and then put it into the final form of a book. Here is a little teaser, and the title of the manuscript.
“Any Other Branch†is a culmination of the work I have done, and in many ways the life I have lived. Although, when reading something critically we are often told to never assume the speaker is the poet, many of these are embodiments of my voice.
Until tomorrow 🙂
