Well I have written one poem so far this weekend. This evening will be the poetry-writing-fest here at the Page house. Friday night was supposed to be, but we had many of our friends stop by unannounced. WARNING to all writers! If you have friends that do this you will at some point have to tell your friends that you are happy to see them, but that you have plans. They may not understand. Plans for most folks include going out and doing something. But we are doing something when we set aside time to write. For me it is my “me” time. I like writing at home surrounded by my books and comforts of home, such as the coffee maker. Others I know can’t work at home, but prefer loud coffee shops or sidewalks. How ever you work, (a reminder to me as much as anyone else) it is important to give yourself that time. Even if you feel you are disappointing others by doing it. After all, you would give time to your friends, so why not yourself?
This is something that I am going to have to work on. When I was in school it was easy to say, sorry I can’t I have homework. But now it will be sorry I can’t I have writing to do.
