    Shaking off the Winter

Well, after quite sometime I have resurfaced.  I made it through my next-to-the-last residency of my MFA program, and am now home again working on my final semester.  Over the next four months I will be writing my manuscript/thesis.  I am both excited and completely terrified of the process.  I have a wonderful support system in my many friends and my family.

So much has happened since my last post.  First I will be teaching a writing class at D’ Acres starting February 27th.  I am back into the swing of preparing for the 30th Medieval & Renaissance Forum at Plymouth State University, and still working at MegaPrint, Inc. I feel very fortunate in our current economy to have a steady job and to work with a great team of folks there.

I have been reading an amazing book by Killarney Clary called, By Me, By Any, Can and Can’t Be Done.  I highly recommend this book if you can get your hands on it.  It was Clary’s first book and was printed in a limited run of 250 copies.  Beautiful and tragic.

Over all things have been tough with the winter’s cold short days and the seasonal colds that come along with that, but I noticed today that the sun was just a little higher in the sky on my way to work this morning.  It made me smile to think about warmer weather on the way.  It helped too that I went to see one of my favorite poets, “Mighty” Mike McGee at his second performance at Plymouth State University this past week.  He brought along two of his slam buddies, “The Dynamic Duo” (Ken Arkind and Panama Soweto) who are great!  Check them out on youtube.com.

    Until next time,

    Ivy

Mike just posted to his blog today…
A strangely funny yet sad 25 list about Barney Rubble…
